Elizabeth is a pianist and instructor in the Denver metro area. Earning a Master's of Music in 1981, she has maintained a private teaching studio for 40 years. As a classical performer, she has given numerous solo and chamber performances in Colorado, Texas and Austria. Easier said than done, Ms. Witt will guide each student at their own pace to discover how to create a picture in sound with each piece they learn. Technical advice will also be offered to help students reach this goal.
Music is an art form and should be enjoyable to learn and perform. Students may learn at their own pace, not feel pressured to perform but share what they have discovered in their musical journey with others if desired.
Elizabeth Witt, Detailed Bio (pdf)
DownloadThere are three recitals offered during the year: Fall, Holiday and Spring. These are held either at my home studio, a church or music store each year. Memorizing pieces is encouraged but not required at these recitals. There is no charge for recitals at my studio and a modest fee for others depending on the venue. In-person recitals and the below events may or may not be held due to Covid-19.
A competitive solo performance event held annually in the Spring at a Lakewood church. Winners perform on a recital and receive trophies. All participants receive certificates of award.
For all students. An evaluation only event held in the Fall with the emphasis on creativity and music knowledge. Students perform for an individual listener in a non-competitive setting.
Honors (evaluation only) and Artist (competitive) auditions. Held in the Spring of each year. Competitive winners perform at the annual State Conference as well
Held at various times during the year. These auditions are designed for students who desire a career in music.
*There is a fee to enter each of the events listed above.

30 MINUTE LESSONS
These are recommended for students in grades 1-6. Approximately 10 min. devoted to theory (usually a written assignment or a session at the computer), and technique (finger exercises) then the remaining time to music. Drills and flashcards for reading and rhythm.
40 minute lessons
This lesson allows more time for listening to critiquing the student's pieces and covering the theory also. It is recommended for students in grades 7-9 unless a beginner. As music increases in difficulty more time is necessary to cover all the details of the music including accuracy, fingerings, rhythm and expression. Beginning at this level, the student chooses between 2 tracks: Intensive Classical or Relaxed Traditional.
45 minute lessons
For students in grades 10-12 or any student desiring more detailed help. At this level, unless the student is a beginner, more time is needed both to hear the pieces and to address corrections. Also, in addition to the theory, drills in rhythm and ear-training will be done. The student chooses between 2 tracks: Intensive Classical or Relaxed Traditional.
1 hour lessons
Available to those interested. Ideal for early advanced and advanced students.
Group classes will be offered on occasion to cover areas like theory, ear-training or performance. These classes are for students only and will be for students of similar levels.
